According to the judicial sources cited by stiripesurse.ro, they were found during the search of the vehicle destroyed in the frontal impact with a TIR, produced after the 29-year-old driver allegedly tried to overtake between Lugoj and Caransebeș, from which he was unable to return to his lane.

We remind you that on Tuesday, January 27, in the town of Lugojel, Timiș county, a minibus carrying Greek supporters of the PAOK team, on their way to the match in France, was involved in a serious accident.

The impact was so strong that the minibus was crushed and pieces of it were scattered tens of meters. Seven people died, and three others were injured and transported to the hospital in Timișoara. All the victims are Greek citizens.

The doctor Dimitris Koukoulas stated, in an interview given to the Greek public television ERT, that he spoke with two of the three survivors of the accident.

“The patient who is in the best condition, with fractures of the lower limbs, told me that during an overtaking lane assist was activated and the steering wheel was practically locked. The driver lost control of the car and could no longer correct the trajectory.” the doctor reported, quoted by the Greek publication Protothema.

However, the specialists point out that, normally, the lane assist system is automatically deactivated when the driver signals the change of lane.

A young man testified for Libertatea that the driver behind the wheel of the minibus “was making S's to see if he could overtake”.

“He was making S's to see if he could overtake. He kept looking. At one point, he overtook. From where I was, it was clear that he had no chance (no – to overtake) or at least it was extremely dangerous. The red truck was coming from the opposite direction.

He realized as he was overtaking that he could not complete the pass and entered the truck on his right, attempting to enter his lane. The moment he entered the TIR on his right, he ricocheted into the red TIR”, declared Tudor Crăciun, the one who called 112.
