Robert Fico after meeting with Donald Trump. “I was shocked”

According to Politico, the Slovak Prime Minister shared his impressions of his visit to Mar-a-Lago during an informal meeting of several EU leaders and high-ranking EU officials, which took place on the sidelines of the extraordinary meeting of the European Council in Brussels on January 22.

Fico allegedly described Trump as a “mentally unstable” person and emphasized that the meeting with the American president made a traumatic impression on him. One of the diplomats cited by the website claims that the prime minister used the word “dangerous” to describe his feelings towards Trump.
Unofficial sources and anonymous reports
Politico states that none of the portal's interlocutors heard these comments directly from Fico. The information comes from people who participated in the meeting with the Slovak Prime Minister after his return from the USA. All the portal's interlocutors – representing four EU countries and one high-ranking EU official – asked to remain anonymous. It was also noted that the details of Fico's conversation with Trump are not known, and the exact words of the US president that could have triggered such a reaction remain a secret.
Official denials and differences in relationships
It is worth noting that the private opinions attributed to Fico differ from his official position. On Facebook, the Slovak Prime Minister described the invitation to Trump's residence as an “expression of high respect and trust” on the part of the American president. Meanwhile, the Slovak Prime Minister's office did not respond to Politico's requests for comment on this matter.
In turn, Anna Kelly, deputy spokeswoman for the White House, firmly rejected the website's reports, calling them “absolutely false information from anonymous European diplomats.” A high-ranking official of the American administration who participated in the meeting between Trump and Fico expressed a similar tone. He argued that he did not remember any awkward situations during the conversation between the two politicians.
“Divine vigor” of the US president
The matter was also commented on by New York Magazine, which on Monday recalled that obtaining reliable information about Trump's health is difficult. At the same time, the statements of his advisers were pointed out, emphasizing the “extraordinary energy” of the US president. Stephen Miller, one of Trump's close associates, said that he “has more energy than a normal mortal.”
Although reports from the visit to Mar-a-Lago remain ambiguous, Politico's reports cast a shadow on the course of the meeting and prompt reflection on its backstage.
