The PURL (*Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List*) mechanism, launched in August 2025, allows NATO countries to finance the purchase of weapons and ammunition from American warehouses, which are then sent to Ukraine.
This solution is aimed at strengthening the country's defense capabilities in the face of Russian aggression, especially in the context of the US suspending direct military aid to Kiev.
US Ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, announced on Tuesday that the allies have so far allocated over USD 4.5 billion for PURL. In turn, Alona Hetmanczuk, head of the Ukrainian mission to NATO, pointed out that nNorway, the Netherlands and Germany provided the most support for this initiative. The next places were taken by Canada, Sweden and Denmark.
