New findings regarding the tragedy in Crans-Montana. A police sketch has been leaked

The sketch was made by the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Zurich for the report from the scene of the tragedy. It shows the areas where the bodies of victims of a bar fire in the Crans-Montana ski resort in Switzerland were found. Three smaller light pink spots can be seen in the back of the basement, where three bodies were found outside a locked fire exit. The large light pink area in front of the narrow staircase, only 1.37 m wide, indicates that 34 bodies lay here, for which the stairs became a death trap with no exit.

Where were the bodies of the Crans-Montana victims found?

How many fireworks fountains were found in the bar?

What indicates the cause of the bar explosion?

What materials were used to renovate the 'Le Constellation' bar?

This sketch was prepared by the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Zurich for the crime scene report. The light pink fields are the areas where rescuers found the body. The numbers 1A to 1Y, as well as additional yellow circles, indicate where fireworks were launched.

The document, obtained by the Bild daily, also shows where fountain-type fireworks were fired throughout the evening in the basement – until 1:27 a.m., when sparklers attached to champagne bottles ignited the flammable ceiling insulation.

Court experts found 25 pyrotechnic fountains

Investigators discovered 25 used pyrotechnic fountains placed in various parts of the room (small yellow circles in the sketch), six “Thunder King” fireworks and eight “Lupo P1” firecrackers in a blue bag on the sofa in the living room to the right of the stairs (yellow circle with the number 2). In addition, specialists found 100 unused fireworks-fountains (“Pyragric Industrie”) in the office behind the hall (yellow circle with the number 3).

Eight used sparklers lay on the wooden barrel, stairs and floor. In addition, investigators also marked the location of the boxing machine in front of the smoking area and pool table – from where they took samples of the ceiling insulation that was believed to have caught fire in the morning on New Year's Day.

The report also included a note about two sound-absorbing foams in the smoking room. Two of them were bought the next day at the Hornbach DIY store in Affoltern am Albis. However, the owner of the bar, Jacques Moretti, claims that he bought the sound-absorbing material there ten years ago.

Renovation of the bar with the participation of the owner

The fact that the Moretti family put a lot of work into quickly renovating the bar is also evidenced by other items confiscated from the office of the “Le Constellation” bar. This includes: mounting foam, metal paint, sealing and mounting glue.

In the report of January 12, immediately after the inspection of the crime scene, there was a conclusion that “at the current stage of the investigation, we are focusing on the ignition of sound-absorbing foams mounted on the ceiling.”
