In Krasnoyarsk, “Honorary Veterans of the City” will receive 10 thousand rubles annually. The corresponding decision was made today, January 27, by deputies of the City Council at the regular session.
The City Council recalled that the new award, at the proposal of the Veterans Council, was approved in 2024. The first titles were awarded in September 2025. The list included eight people – honored veterans of labor, combat, and military service. These people make a significant contribution to the development of the city, the veteran movement, participate in the patriotic education of youth, protect the rights and interests of older people, and have personal services to the city. Some of them have more than 50 years of work experience.
The ceremonial presentation of badges and certificates took place on October 1, the International Day of Older Persons. The city plans to make this event a traditional one, selecting 8 people annually.
Initially, the award was accompanied by a one-time payment of 5 thousand rubles, but now a decision has been made on an annual payment of 10 thousand rubles.
“The payment will be made on an annual basis. This measure is of an application nature, however, the Honorary Veteran will need to write an application only once in order for the funds to be accrued every year,” Olga Kachanova, head of the department of social protection of the population, explained to the people’s representatives.
Before being submitted to the session, members of two commissions agreed: on social policy and on local self-government.
“We considered the proposal of our colleagues from the social policy commission and, as they said in the 1980s, we warmly and with deep satisfaction supported the initiative. It is logical to start making payments to honorary veterans by analogy with honorary citizens of Krasnoyarsk. But, of course, it will be necessary to return to the issue from time to time in order to think about indexing the amount of payments,” Elena Yuzhakova, chairman of the standing commission on local self-government, noted at the meeting.
The initiative was approved unanimously at the session. Funds for payments will be allocated from the municipal treasury. The decision will take effect from May 1, 2026. Over the next three years, 730 thousand rubles will be required for these purposes. In 2026, 160 thousand will be spent. Eight veterans awarded the title in 2025 will receive them, and eight in 2026. Then the amount of expenses will increase annually by at least 80 thousand rubles – in accordance with the increase in the list of Honorary Veterans.
