How many people in the European Union think Trump deserves the peace prize? Survey results

Polls have shown Trump is unpopular on the continent, even among supporters of right-wing populist parties he counts as allies.

About two-thirds of respondents to the FGS Global survey said they were pessimistic about Trump's impact in the coming year on the global economy (69%), peace and security (64%) and their own country (64%).

The poll also shows that Europeans are pessimistic about the state of the world, their countries, their circumstances and the dangers posed by Trump. Nearly two-thirds of respondents (63%) said “the best years are behind us”, while 77% believe that life in their country “will be more difficult for the next generation”.

Also, a majority of Europeans (76%) said that democracy in their country is in decline. In almost every country surveyed, a majority believed their country was heading down the wrong path, the publication said.

FGS surveyed 11.7 thousand adults from 23 EU countries between November 10 and 23, 2025 in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. Interviews were conducted online and have a margin of error of +/- 4.4%.
