The demand for vegetables is weakening, the prices of agricultural produce are falling, and warehouses are full of them. Polish farmers are afraid of growing competition from abroad. If they do not empty their warehouses before spring, their negotiating position in the market will weaken. Especially when, for example, new potatoes appear and old ones are still available in wholesalers. “In many farms, potatoes are still in storage. These are not symbolic quantities, just full chambers. If there is no significant movement in trade in February and March, this season will start with a burden,” a producer from the Sieradz area tells the website sadyogrody.pl. Sam currently has about 400 tons of potatoes in stock.

Experts predict declines in vegetable prices in Poland
The problem is, among others, competition from abroad, whose offers are used by, for example, large chains of supermarkets and discount stores. Soon, new potatoes and other vegetables from Romania, Cyprus and Egypt will appear on store shelves. Their advantage is mainly the price. Meanwhile, the potato harvest in 2025 in Poland was record-breaking. According to data from the Central Statistical Office, it is approximately 6.8 million tons, 15 percent more than a year earlier. In general, excluding potatoes, the production of field vegetables last year amounted to approximately 4 million tons, of which almost a quarter was cabbage.
As BNP Paribas experts announced before Christmas, vegetable prices may fall in 2026. “We expect general price declines resulting from greater supply of key species after 2025.” – we read in the bank's announcement. Experts forecast that in the first months of the year, brewery prices may be lower by approximately 10-15 percent. — unlike many other foods.

Some farmers are looking for unusual ways to get rid of surpluses from warehouses. According to “Fakt”, they offer, among others: your crops for sale online. They list in detail the advantages of their products, also emphasizing their low prices and the possibility of negotiation. Some even offer shipping via parcel locker. Such offers include: from the province Podkarpackie, Świętokrzyskie and Lesser Poland. “Potatoes produced just for yourself,” a farmer from the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, quoted by “Fakt”, praises the product.
