A political crisis caused by a dispute over a military law

The dispute over the law, which would be to release young ultra -port -oxidal men from charedi from military service, caused serious tension in the coalition. Rabbi conducting the batch of the Torah banner, one of the part of the religious alliance of UTJ, decided to prepare a bill to resolve parliament. Agudat Israel, the second part of the same alliance, was already in favor of conducting new elections. The Sefardian party of Torah guards (SZAS) also informed about a similar intention.
The government coalition, which includes both UTJ and SZAS, currently has a majority of 68 votes in the KneSet with 120 people. However, the demands of ultra -orthodox groups regarding changes in the law are a source of deep division in Israeli society. Although ultra -portoxy indicate that military service is contrary to the principles of their everyday life and may lead to distance from faith, secular groups pay attention to the lack of social solidarity and emphasize that collective releases from the army are unacceptable in the context of ongoing military conflicts.
Meanwhile, Jair Lapid, the leader of the opposition grouping is the future, announced that this Wednesday, June 11, will submit a bill on the dissolution of parliament. The proposal aims to conduct new elections, which – according to the latest survey of the “Maariw” daily – could bring a failure of the current coalition, enabling the opposition to take power. Opposition parties have already announced that they will support Lapid's initiative. However, the question of whether the crew and szas will decide to leave the government or support the parliamentary solution.
Criticism of Netanyahu
In the context of growing tensions, Netanyahu's policy criticizes a significant part of Israeli society. Negative opinions apply to both actions during the war in the Gaza Strip and accusations against the coalition of attempts to take over key state institutions, which, according to the opposition, threatens democracy in the country.
Lapid expressed his strong opposition to the government's actions. – This is the end of this parliament, which brought to Israel only pain, catastrophes, suffering and crises (…) you will not adopt a release act from military service, since every day the wonderful children of the Israeli nation die in our defense – emphasized the opposition leader.
