Poles support a ban on selling alcohol on ski slopes


Wirtualna Polska points out that drinking alcohol before or during skiing has a direct impact on safety. “Skiers drinking beer or mulled wine have significantly worse coordination and take greater risks, which translates into dangerous collisions,” the portal emphasizes.

Although the sale of alcohol in catering outlets on the slopes is currently allowed in many resorts, the laws regarding driving under the influence are already more restrictive.
“However, driving under the influence of alcohol in an organized ski area is an offense, and exceeding the threshold of 0.5 per mille may result in fines or a court application,” reminds Wirtualna Polska.

According to the study, up to 80% believe that there should be a total ban on the sale of alcohol on the slopesand skiers should be subjected to random sobriety checks. Only 10 percent were against such solutions. subjects.
The survey was conducted by the Ariadna National Research Panel on behalf of Wirtualna Polska on January 16–19, 2026. The survey was carried out using the CAWI method, i.e. online interviews, on a representative sample of adult residents of Poland.
