Performance on the field, nightmare in the dressing room: the Super League revelation complains about the deplorable conditions. Drifting stadium angers players: “It's actually raining in the dressing room. We want normal conditions!”

FC Botoșani footballers, in 3rd place in League 1, just two points behind the leader, expressed their dissatisfaction with the deplorable state of the stadium in the north of Moldova.

Raining changing rooms, lack of upgrades in the last decade and facilities far below the standards of a first league team are the main problems reported.
Sebastian Mailat (28) and Andrei Miron (31) spoke openly about how these conditions affect the players' daily lives and their performance on the field.
Mailat, one of the important scorers of the team coached by Leo Grozavu, emphasized that the stadium, built in 1970, requires urgent investments, especially since Botoșaniul proposes ambitious goals and dreams of qualifying for the play-offs. This situation highlights the discrepancy between the sporting level of the team and the infrastructure provided by the local authorities.
“I don't know if you know, but it's raining in our dressing room! It's actually raining in the dressing room… We'd like the conditions of the other clubs and we're not asking for much. Just some new dressing rooms!“Mailat said.
“It's shameful to play in League 1 with such a stadium and such conditions!”
In parallel, the captain of the team and one of the most experienced players, Andrei Miron, launched a real appeal to the local authorities, criticizing the way the stadium is maintained.
“I am very sorry because I was ten years ago for the first time in the team and the conditions are the same. Nothing has changed at all! I am really very sorry for this situation. I don't know who it depends on, who has to do more… It is shameful to play in League 1 with such a stadium and such conditions!“Miron said, according to GSP.
Even the opposing teams criticized the conditions encountered in Moldova
The defender of FC Botoșani supports these observations, confirming that the reported problems are real: “And they are very right! I'll give you an example. I played at Metaloglobus, but there, in two months, a dressing room was built… Conditions pretty much OK, where you can do your work!“.
The patron of FC Botoșani, Valeriu Iftime, has previously expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of the city's stadium and launched a public appeal to local authorities, asking for involvement and attention to modernize an arena that reflects the city's pride and passion for football.
“The stadium must be transformed into a place worthy of our city and I will not stop until we see our goal achieved. Mr. Mayor, let's seriously consider redoing the lawn, but for that I need your attention. Of communication, to understand that it is not mine, it belongs to the stadium, to the people, to this wonderful city that loves football!“, Valeriu Iftime announced in the past.
“Weak chance of building a stadium and moving the team!”
Despite the appearance, in recent years and especially during the election campaigns, of several stadiums built overnight in Botoșani, Andrei Miron cools the supporters' enthusiasm, drawing attention to the real infrastructure problems that persist at the city's main stadium.
“I don't think another stadium will ever be built! Maybe just some changing rooms and some conditions… A better recovery place. Little chance of building a stadium and moving the team. We need changing rooms and conditions for training. And the stands should be modernized!“Miron also declared, according to the same source.
“I didn't even have toilet paper in the bathroom!”
The former coach of the University of Craiova, Mirel Rădoi, sounded the alarm, harshly criticizing the conditions in the locker rooms and the facilities of the Botoșani stadium.
In a candid statement after the match, where the Oltenians drew with the Moldovans in round #8 of the Superliga, 1-1, Rădoi described the deplorable situation facing the players, highlighting the problems that remained unresolved, despite the investments made in local football.
“I couldn't use what was in the changing room, I didn't even have toilet paper in the bathroom. The air conditioner also broke down, nothing was working. This is us in 2025! I know that Botoșani is trying to play football, he is investing. But unfortunately, at least for me it's not OK!”admitted Mirel Rădoi, former coach in Bănie, in August 2025.
