Trump's Peace Council without Poland? The budget does not include a billion dollars

— Of course, there is no such billion in this year's budget. In Poland, we have many very important financial needs and expenses that are priorities. Trump inaugurates the Peace Council
The Peace Council, established by Donald Trump and inaugurated on Thursday during the World Economic Forum in Davos, is an element of the peace plan prepared by the US, which was accepted by both Israel and the Palestinian Hamas. According to the assumptions, Council members will be elected for three-year terms by Trump himself, who will serve as lifetime president with almost unlimited powers. However, permanent membership in the Council requires a payment of over USD 1 billion.
According to media reports, 60 countries received an invitation to the Council, of which 10 have already decided to join. This information was reported by Bloomberg, but details of the permanent members' contributions have not yet been fully disclosed.
Poland expresses interest, but no decision has been made
President Karol Nawrocki, who spoke with Donald Trump in Davos on Wednesday, confirmed that Poland has not yet started the process of joining the Peace Council. However, he expressed interest in the initiative, noting that a decision on this matter requires a full constitutional procedure.
— Poland's participation in the Peace Council is important and necessary, but this type of international agreement must go through the entire constitutional procedure, which was the topic of the conversation with President Donald Trump and was accepted with great understanding, said Nawrocki after the meeting with the American leader.
Trump, in his Thursday speech in Davos, mentioned that Nawrocki expressed his willingness to sign documents regarding the Peace Council, but he must obtain the consent of the Polish Parliament.
Poland's priorities
Minister Domański emphasized that Poland is currently focusing on other, more urgent financial needs. However, the lack of funds for payments to the Peace Council in the 2026 budget does not mean that the issue has been completely closed. As the head of the Ministry of Finance pointed out, any decisions in this matter will require detailed analyses, both financial and legal.
