An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.2 occurred on Saturday at noon in the Vrancea seismic zone, according to data published by the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics (INCDFP), informs Agerpres.
Although INCDFP initially reported a magnitude of 3.0, the data was later rectified by specialists, the earthquake being re-evaluated at 3.2 degrees on the Richter scale.
The earthquake occurred at 11:51:54 local time, at a depth of 70 km, at: 35 km west of Focșani, 73 km north of Buzău, 75 km east of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 84 km southwest of Bârlad, 84 km south of Bacău, 91 km east of Brașov.
Since the beginning of January 2026, 14 earthquakes with magnitudes between 2 and 3.3 degrees have occurred in Romania.
Last year, the largest earthquakes, both measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale, occurred on February 13, in Buzău County, and on May 11 in Vrancea County. In 2024, the most important earthquake had a magnitude of 5.4 and occurred in Buzău County, on September 16.
