Kiev wants to put an end to the war with Moscow “this year”, but the West must increase its “economic pressure” and “military” on Russia, as the “conciliation diplomacy” does not work with the Kremlin, said Ukraine Foreign Minister Andrii Sîbiha, according to France Presse.
“We want to put an end to this war this year,” said Sîbiha during a meeting with the supporters of Ukraine held in Rome.
“The time has come to resort to pressure diplomacy,” he insisted, assuring that “only pressure can constrain Russia to seek peace: economic, military and political pressure.”
Two days ago, Russia's Foreign Ministry conditioned the conclusion of the war against Ukraine with a stop of NATO expansion to the East, Agerpres recalls. The Russian Foreign Deputy Minister Sergei Riabkov said that this desire of Moscow is a test on the seriousness of the United States when they say they want to improve their relationships with the Russian Federation.
“There is a need for practical measures from the American side to eliminate the causes of the fundamental contradictions between us in the field of security. NATO expansion is at the top of these causes. Without a solution to this acute and fundamental problem, it is simply impossible to solve the current conflict in the euro-Atlantic area,” Riabkov said, which is responsible for strategic weapons.
The Russian leadership frequently mentions the extension of the North Atlantic Alliance and the possible accession of Ukraine to NATO as reasons for the Russian Aggression War against the neighboring country.
