Inter Milan, the football club where Cristian Chivu trains, announced on Friday evening that the Romanian will be one of the bearers of the Olympic torch at the Milan-Cortina Winter Games.
“Cristian Chivu will carry the Olympic torch. The Nerazzurri coach is officially the torchbearer for Milano Cortina 2026!”, Inter announced in a Facebook post.
The 2026 edition of the Winter Olympics will take place in Italy, in Milan and Cortina d`Ampezzo, from February 4-22.
Chivu, who also won the Champions League as a footballer with Inter Milan, became first-team coach this summer after rescuing Parma from relegation in his first experience in charge of the senior side.
At the beginning of his coaching career, the former captain of the national team was active in the lower age categories of the Milanese club.
With Chivu at the helm, Inter is in first place in Serie A and 14th in the Champions League.
