The next victim of scammers in the Krasnoyarsk Territory was a 9-year-old girl. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region.
A resident of Achinsk contacted the police department with a statement about the theft of money from her card by an unidentified person. According to the woman, at night an unknown person wrote to her daughter in instant messenger and said that scammers were trying to get loans for her mother.
“To prevent the operation, the girl had to perform the following manipulations: take her mother’s phone number without informing her of the matter; report the code received via SMS; take screenshots of banking applications. After the frightened schoolgirl fulfilled all the requirements under cover of darkness, 9,500 rubles were debited from her mother’s bank account,” — clarified by the department.
Based on this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud”.
According to law enforcement officials, children are increasingly becoming victims of fraudsters, who are stealing money from adult cards. Police recommend warning children and not giving them access to banking applications, and that adults install a self-banning service for applying for loans on the government services portal.
