Nine Krasnoyarsk residents will be tried for gang violence and extortion, the regional prosecutor’s office reported.

The department's press service said that the first of the attacks for which the attackers were charged occurred in August 2024 on Bykovsky Street. A group of young men and a girl attacked and beat a 25-year-old man. One of the attackers threatened with a knife, which greatly frightened the victim and eyewitnesses of the incident.

“Their behavior grossly violated public order and demonstrated a complete disregard for others. When the man could no longer resist, three participants, including a woman, put him in a car and took him to a deserted place. There they demanded 200 thousand rubles, threatening further violence. On the same day, the victim’s mother transferred part of the required amount to the accounts of the defendants,” the prosecutor’s office said.

Later, in December of the same year, one of the attackers helped a builder he knew find work renovating an apartment. They promised to pay him 250 thousand rubles, but the customer was dissatisfied with the quality and paid only part of the amount.

“To return the money, the accused and another member of the group met with the builder and, using physical violence, demanded to pay the debt,” the press service said.

The prosecutor charged the defendants with hooliganism with the use of violence and objects used as weapons (Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), arbitrariness with violence and the threat of its use (Part 2 of Article 330 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), extortion with violence (clauses “a”, “c” of Part 2 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Each of the accused faces 7 years of imprisonment for hooliganism and extortion and 5 years of imprisonment for arbitrariness. The criminal case will be considered by the Sovetsky District Court of Krasnoyarsk.
