SC Oțelul Galati published the financial balance for the year 2025. The club came out with a surplus of 85,000 euros thanks to player transfers, but the table of “burning” debts, the short-term ones, reached 3.83 million euros, is alarming!

At the beginning of February, Oțelul Galați got a real scare, the Galăți Court accepting a request for insolvency of the club, based on a debt of 11,250 euros to the footballer Stiven Plaza, registered for a few months with the red-white-blue team.

The club paid off the debt, escaped the Insolvency Appeal, but that was all one of the multiple hops he has to navigate during this period.

The financial situation of Steel is alarming. In 2025, the club's short-term debt almost doubled, from €2.13 million to €3.83 million.

All the alarms are ringing in Galati: the urgent debts “exploded” in 2025

The biggest increase, of 179% (!!!), is in the chapter of debts to the State, to the tax authorities. At the end of 2024, they amounted to 496,000 euros. A year later, 1.36 million euros.

Financing accessed in advance also increased massively, by 95%, from 840,000 euros in 2024 to 1.62 million euros last year.

Debts towards employees are also increasing, up to 835,000 euros at the end of 2025. It is an amount that denotes months in arrears for those under contract with the club, from players and technical staff to administrative staff.

6 million revenue in 2025, 1.6 from the authorities

Regarding income and expenses, we mentioned a profit of around 85,000 euros after taxation. Steel collected 6.052 million euros in 2025 and consumed 5.968 million.

The largest chunk of revenue, 33.94%, i.e. 1.93 million euros, came from sponsorship and advertising contracts.

The club received 1.34 million from the TV rights and scored 1.596 million euros in subsidies from the authorities, which means that the help from public money was decreasing in 2025, from 2.226 million euros in 2024.

The rest of the money entered into the accounts comes from commercial activities (approximately 135,000 euros), match tickets (315,000 euros) or is marked as “other operating income” (375,000 euros).

Regarding the expenses, the largest part, 4.125 million euros, went to the salaries and benefits of the employees. That means 72.44% of the total current income!

Overall, the club was at a loss if we refer exclusively to the current activity, revenues versus operating expenses, but the balance was decisively tilted by the money collected by Oțelul from the transfers, about 322,000 euros.
