Umerov assessed the negotiations in the United States. The next round will take place in Davos

He said that, together with the head of the OP Kirill Budanov and the head of the Servant of the People faction David Arakhamia, he held two-day consultations in Miami with the special envoy of US President Donald Trump Steve Witkoff, the son-in-law of the head of the White House Jared Kushner, US Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll and White House employee Josh Gruenbaum.

“We substantively discussed economic development and the prosperity plan, as well as security guarantees for Ukraine – with a focus on practical mechanisms for their implementation and implementation. We informed our American partners about recent Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine,” Umerov wrote.

The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced the reports of the Ukrainian delegation from America in an evening video message (published on Facebook by the OP).

“There have already been several rounds of negotiations – they are working on the documents necessary to end the war. It is important that the Ukrainian team fully informs the American side about what is happening in Ukraine and about the constant Russian attacks on our energy system,” the head of state noted.

Context

The World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, which brings together world leaders, will take place January 19–26. At it, Washington and Kyiv plan to sign an agreement on the post-war restoration of Ukraine, The Telegraph reported on January 10.

US President Donald Trump, after negotiations on December 28 last year, said that if peace was concluded, the Russians would help in reconstruction. To a clarifying question whether there was any talk about reparations from the Russian Federation and what Trump’s position on this matter is, Zelensky replied that the United States does not like the word “reparations,” but for Kyiv “it is important to get money to rebuild the country.”

Zelensky, in an interview with Axios, published on December 26, 2025, said that the United States offered Ukraine an agreement according to which it would provide security guarantees for 15 years. On January 8, he reported that a bilateral document between Washington and Kiev on security guarantees for Ukraine was actually ready for finalization with Trump.
