This fall, in Ukraine, local elections should be held by law. The CEC told whether they will take place

The Central Election Commission reminded that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is appointed by the date of such elections no later than 90 days before the voting day. In connection with the full -scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, martial law is in force, during which the elections are not organized or conducted.

So the parliament did not make a decision on the appointment of the next local elections, they explained to the CEC.

“Given this, the CEC states the absence of grounds for making the submission of candidates for local territorial election commissions, as well as for the formation of a new composition of territorial election commissions at various levels that prepare and hold local elections in Ukraine,” the Center's website said in a message.

The CEC drew the attention of local organizations of political parties that the prerequisite for introducing candidates for territorial election commissions (TIK) is the adoption of the decision of the next local elections and determine the date of their holding.

“During the operation of martial law, no elections are organized and are not held, therefore, the members of the TIC, the composition of which formed in the next local elections on October 25, 2020, continue to exercise their authority until the formation of a new composition of the relevant territorial election commission,” said the member of the commission Sergei post -person.
