If the vacuum cleaner does not pull debris, heats up and makes noise differently, many attribute this to a motor failure or general wear and tear. But according to the experts, in 80% of cases the problem is solved in a couple and does not require expensive repairs.
Service center specialists claim that the power of a vacuum cleaner depends primarily on the free flow of air. Even if the container or bag is empty, the air passage may be blocked. Here are the 2 most common clog points.
1. Clogged mesh in front of the motor
A small mesh, often located just behind the dust collector, protects the motor from fine dust. Over time, it becomes clogged with wool, hair and small debris, creating a dense plug. The motor has to work with a huge overload to push air, but the thrust still drops. This not only reduces cleaning efficiency, but also accelerates wear and tear on equipment.
Find this mesh in your model, carefully remove it, rinse under running water and dry completely. This should be done once every 1–2 weeks during active use.
2. Clogged hose or pipe
Large objects can get stuck inside a flexible hose or pipe: hairballs, paper, candy wrappers, toy parts. This blocks the air flow instantly.
Disconnect the hose from the body and look at the clearance. Or clean it carefully with a wire. You can also try blowing it from the reverse side.
What else is important to check?
Fine filters clog more slowly, but also affect draft. Do not forget to change or wash them (if they are washable) strictly according to the instructions, and not occasionally.
If the vacuum cleaner starts to get very hot or makes a hum under load, this is a sure sign of poor air circulation. The motor is running at its limit.
