Deputies of the Norilsk City Council took part in a large cleaning of children's playgrounds

8 June 10:45

On the day of the first citywide cleanup day, the Youth Parliament of Norilsk traditionally took up the task of cleaning playgrounds – this became a continuation of the flagship project “100 good deeds”.

This time, young parliamentarians were cleaning up one of the city’s most popular open-air areas for children’s leisure – a large area on Talnakhskaya, 10. The initiative of the Youth Parliament was supported by deputies of the Norilsk City Council, representatives of the local public chamber, Young Guard members and residents of nearby houses.

“We visited all the sites that are in our city, and found that the dirtiest site is this, and the largest. The residents here are very responsive: there are now about 70–80 people on the site, and about half of them are residents of this yard. With this action, we do not want to teach people how to clean, but to make people think. When a person walks and throws a piece of paper, let him remember that once he picked up this piece of paper and once he put it away,” says Denis Kaminsky, Chairman of the Youth Parliament, Deputy of the Norilsk City Council.

The first citywide cleanup marked the start of the summer environmental campaign. During the season, it is planned to continue spot cleaning at playgrounds and other city facilities.

“This is our annual event. Last year we started it at Komsomolskaya, 39. Every year we try to clean the playgrounds at the beginning of summer, because a lot of garbage accumulates over the winter and spring. Especially now we have noticed that there is a lot of glass, and this is unsafe for children. I hope that through our small deeds the city, especially playgrounds, will become cleaner,” shares the deputy chairman of the Youth Parliament Balakhalum Kazieva.

Organizers and participants of cleanup days at children's playgrounds note that each time more and more citizens are getting involved in cleaning, and hope that their help in cleaning up will be a good help for service organizations.

“This is my first time taking part in such an event. I think it is the duty of every person to participate in the life of the city. I think that such events can motivate residents to maintain order, because every person will feel it for themselves and understand how important it is,” notes young Norilsk resident, participant of the cleanup event Miroslava Vasilyeva.

The organizers are confident that with the help of such cleanup work it will be possible to quickly put in order the places of mass recreation for young Norilsk residents, because with the onset of the holidays, more and more children spend their free time on the street.
