After 11 consecutive home wins in all competitions, Aston Villa succumbed to Everton. “Caramelele” prevailed 1-0 on “Villa Park”, with the goal scored by Thierno Barry, in the 59th minute, in the 22nd stage of the Premier League.
David Moyes' side put in a solid performance, hitting the bar from the first minute and having a goal disallowed by Jake O'Brien.
On the other hand, Villa hit the bar twice in the first half, through Morgan Rogers and Evan Gesson.

The game started strongly and the visitors came close to scoring in the 11th second. Barry deflected for Rohl who shot and the ball hit the right post of Martinez's goal.
Aston Villa gradually came into the game. Rogers shot across goal from a good position, then broke into the box, but the execution was delayed. The hosts piled on the pressure but quickly lost captain John McGinn to injury and was substituted in the 18th minute.
McGinn's exit hurt the team's rhythm. Everton had another chance in the 22nd minute when Grealish volleyed home from a blocked corner. After half an hour, Gesson was given a great release by Tielemans, but finished poorly.
Martinez then interfered with a shot by Mykolenko. At the resulting corner, Jake O'Brien scored with a header, but the goal was disallowed for offside on Armstrong, who was considered involved in the phase.

Villa countered through Morgan Rogers. In the 36th minute, he received the ball after a good move by Maatsen, but his shot was blocked.
On the next phase, Rogers fired again, but Pickford parried. In the 41st minute, Gesson headed the crossbar.
The second half brought fewer chances. Tielemans headed wide and Villa found it increasingly difficult to find space.
In the 59th minute, Everton opened the scoring after a mistake by Pau Torres. The Spaniard mishandled a pass from Konsa, the ball ricocheted to McNeil, whose shot was blocked by Martinez, but Barry was on the move and elegantly lobbed home to make it 1-0.
Aston Villa forced an equaliser. Rogers had several attempts, the biggest in the 69th minute when he shot low from the box and then sent wide. Later, Pickford intervened decisively on a well-placed shot by the same Rogers.
Until the end, the “candies” defended organized and rejected the hosts' pressure. Buendía had another chance in extra time, but his header was wide.
Following this result, Villa remain in 3rd place with 43 points, level with City and 7 behind leaders Arsenal. While Everton are 10th with 32.
