The Cuban authorities have approved a plan of action in the event of a declaration of a state of war, pro-government media reported, emphasizing that this decision coincided with the increase in tension in the region after the American attacks on Venezuela and the capture of President Nicolas Maduro in Caracas.

The National Defense Council has decided
As reported by the Cubadebate website, the plan, the details of which were not disclosed, was adopted on Saturday during a meeting of the Cuban National Defense Council. The course of the meeting, as the online daily added, was followed by, among others, Gen. Raul Castro, former head of government and the Communist Party of Cuba. He described the meeting as “good and fruitful”.
The Cuban National Defense Council is responsible for taking control of the country in emergency situations, such as a natural disaster or armed conflict. It is led by President Miguel Diaz-Canel.
“War of the Whole Nation”
State media reminds that the measures to introduce a state of war are based on the concept of the so-called “War of the Whole Nation”, which was promoted in the 1980s by the then leader of Cuba, Fidel Castro.
The “War of the Nation” strategy is based on the general mobilization of the Cuban population to face possible external aggression.
According to state media, during the last two weekends, military exercises were carried out among the population in Cuba, which included, among others, mining training, handling small arms and providing medical assistance on the battlefield.
The independent Radio Marti noted that the increased activity in preparations for armed conflict coincided with the arrival of a transport from Venezuela to Cuba with the bodies of 32 Cuban soldiers killed on January 3 during the US military attack on Venezuela. They were supposed to be part of President Maduro's security detail. (PAP)
