Dinamo and Cătălin Cîrjan (23 years old) clapped hands regarding a contract termination clause, announced the president of the club, Andrei Nicolescu.
Last week, Dinamo and their captain turned down a big offer from Metalist 1925 Kharkiv, the 7th place in Ukraine.
The Ukrainians proposed 4 million euros as a fixed amount, plus another 500,000 in the form of potential bonuses, but the footballer chose to continue at Dinamo. Dinamo did not force the transfer either, so the parties will continue their collaboration.
This morning, the day after Dinamo beat U Cluj in the 22nd round of the championship, president Andrei Nicolescu revealed that he had reached an agreement with the footballer, so that Cătălin would be free to transfer in exchange for 5 million euros.
Cătălin Cîrjan and Dinamo clapped: “We only need the signature”
“We have already had these discussions for two or three months, related to a possible transfer clause. We were in a very good direction. The documents are completed, only the signature has to be put on them“, said Nicolescu to fanatik.ro.
When asked to confirm that it is about the amount of 5 million eurosDinamo's president did it: “Yes, yes”.
Regarding the offer from Metalist 1925, Nicolescu presented the film of the discussions.
“We tried to be very close to him. Sometimes the club decides coldly. It was not our way to decide. I spoke with the main shareholder and Cătă on the phone, to understand very well how he feelsby the way why is it happening to him. I think it was also a sign for him that we were close to him.
Firstly, we were interested in what he thought about it, before discussing whether it made sense for the club. At any time, in the context in which Dinamo is, the 4 million would have made sense. But this discussion in 3 was very important for him as well. He saw the support from us, it didn't feel like a commodity. Sometimes, that's what players are, a commodity that those who have them can dispose of.
I told him that it is very important what he wants, how he thinks we can evolve better as a club, what impact such a change would have, what we want and the fact that this is nothing but a confirmation of the fact that he has value.
And he told us that for him and his family that offer would have been a very important matter. It presses you, when financially you have something like this in front of you… Not only that (no – 60,000 euros per month), there was also a percentage, there was a lot of money in the middle. Then the connection between us and him led us to this decision. This moment creates much more value, the way it was treated”, said the president of Dinamo.
