The interim president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, announced on Wednesday that the PSD has ongoing measurements to see who has the best chances for the Capital City Hall. He said that both Gabriela Firea and Daniel Băluţă “can win the elections”.
“I also had discussions with Daniel Băluţă and Gabi Firea. The date left is December 7. We will start within the Bucharest organization, following which the validation will come in the National Permanent Bureau, of the procedure for appointing the candidates”, said the PSD interim president, quoted by News.ro.
Grindeanu announced that PSD has more polls underway.
“At this moment, we also have measurements underway, so that we can see who has the best chances. Both are my colleagues and both are colleagues who can win the elections,” said the PSD interim president.
The governing coalition decided, on Wednesday, that the elections for the Capital City Hall will take place on December 7. The PSD imposed its requirement regarding the candidates, so the three parties (PSD, PNL, USR) will have separate candidates.
Daniel Băluță, the current PSD mayor of Sector 4, leads in voting intentions for the General City Hall of the Capital, with 25%, according to a CURS survey published on Sunday. Cătălin Drula (USR) and Ciprian Ciucu (PNL) are tied for second place, each with 18%, according to a survey published on Sunday, October 19. Gabriela Firea's name was not included in this poll.
The survey was conducted by the Center for Urban and Regional Sociology (CURS) between October 8–17, 2025, on a sample of 1,072 respondents from Bucharest, with a margin of error of ±3%, at a confidence level of 95%.
