A fire that broke out on Sunday morning at a building of the University of Oradea completely destroyed a laboratory and a workshop, but the firefighters from ISU Bihor managed to prevent the fire from spreading throughout the building.
“When the intervention forces arrived, the fire was violent and widespread in a workshop and an engineering laboratory, the burning being fueled by combustible materials and flammable liquids (diesel and gasoline),” ISU Bihor reported.
The fire was extinguished after an intervention of 17 firefighters at the end of 25 minutes. Firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other rooms of the ground floor and two-story building, but the goods in the workshop and laboratory were completely destroyed.
“Three fire crews from the 1st Oradea Detachment were mobilized to the scene, with three water and foam extinguishing vehicles, as well as the SMURD Oradea mobile intensive care team.
The first investigations indicate that the fire was most likely caused by an electrical appliance left live. Fortunately, no victims were registered”, state the Bihor firemen.
