Iran has just issued a new NOTAM notification announcing that its airspace will be closed to all flights except international flights to and from the country that are permitted, according to the FlightRadar24 monitoring platform, Reuters and Sky News write.
A NOTAM (or Notice to Air Missions) is an urgent alert to pilots about dangers and airspace conditions. Such aeronautical advisory communicates critical and temporary information about airspace, facilities, services, procedures or hazards vital to the safety and efficiency of flights, such as runway closures, air traffic restrictions, temporary obstacles or navigational failures. These messages are transmitted in real time, being indispensable for flight planning and decision-making, covering exceptional situations of the air navigation system.
The notification will be valid for a little more than two hours.
