Last-placed Wolverhampton in the Premier League announced their new head coach, Rob Edwards (42).

With Wolverhampton last in the Premier League, only two points collected in 10 matches under the command of Vitor Pereira, the club management dismissed the Portuguese coach.

After a run without a manager in good standing, Wolverhampton announced Pereira's successor: Rob Edwards, former team player for 4 years (2004-2008), later employed by the club between 2014 and 2016, respectively in the 2018/2019 season.

Edwards also worked at Wolverhampton as a coach for the U18 and U23 teams, respectively as a “second” in the first team. He also worked under the command of Walter Zenga, during the short mandate that the Italian had in 2016.

Wolverhampton have announced their new manager: Rob Edwards

Edwards was at Middlesbrough, which he took to runners-up in the Championship, two years after promoting Luton Town to the Premier League. But the temptation to return to the elite was so great that he abandoned ship for the mission to save the “wolves” from relegation.

He doesn't come for free. To terminate your contract with Middlesbrough, those from Wolves pay around 3 million pounds (3.4 in euros)according to The Athletic.

Edwards signed a contract valid for 3 and a half years. He is seen as the ideal architect of a long-term project. And if they are relegated this season, the club's management are confident they can return the team to the Premier League.

Edwards' first game on the Wolverhampton bench will take place on November 22 at home to Crystal Palace.
