The Italian Fabio Paratici (53 years old) will be the new sporting director of Fiorentina, the Florence football club announced today.
He comes to Italy after parting ways with Tottenham, following a two-and-a-half-year suspension for accounting fraud.
Fabio Paratici, suspended for 30 months, comes to Fiorentina
A statement said Paratici, who currently serves as sporting director at Tottenham, will officially take over at Fiorentina on February 4. Tottenham have confirmed that Paratici will leave the London club at the beginning of February.
“We have agreed that Fabio will return to Italy after the end of the January transfer window, in line with his wish to return home. We thank Fabio for his contribution to the club and wish him every success in the future. Our management structure is designed to be resilient to personnel changes and will continue as business as usual,” Tottenham chief executive Vinai Venkatesham said in a statement posted on the club's official website.
Fiorentina's new sporting director had a few words on his departure from the London club.
“I would like to thank Vinai and the management of Tottenham Hotspur for considering my desire to return to Italy and join Fiorentina. I really enjoyed my time at the club, but this opportunity, together with the need to settle in my homeland, led me to this decision.
Spurs is a club very close to my heart. He has great people working for him who are as passionate about the project as I am and want to bring sustained success. I have no doubt that they will achieve this and I will be watching them closely from Italy,” Fabio said, according to the aforementioned source.
