The American public was shocked by the news of the tragic death of Jamaican athlete Kevin Goldson, aged 23. The Lincoln University student died of stab wounds in his own home, and his girlfriend has been charged with murder.
According to the Jefferson City police report, officers responded to a call in the early hours of the morning and found Goldson at the scene with serious injuries to his chest and back. The tragedy occurred a few days ago and, although he was urgently transported by helicopter to the University Hospital, the young athlete died from his injuries, according to sportal.blic.rs.
Athlete killed at home by his own partner
Police arrested 27-year-old Denita Jackson, who is also an athlete. The prosecutor's office charged her with murder.
According to available information, the fatal outcome was preceded by a quarrel between the two partners, apparently due to suspicions of infidelity.
Jackson told investigators she returned home early because she wasn't feeling well and found Goldson in her room. In her version of events, during the ensuing scandal he kicked her in the stomach, taking the initiative to strangle her. She claims she then took a knife from under the bed and stabbed him several times.
