Europe announces new sanctions on Russia. “Restrictions should cover everything”


The proposal for another package of sanctions from Europe may be a serious blow to the Russian economy. “The European Union should ban companies from supporting Moscow's oil and gas transport fleet, introduce sanctions against Russian fertilizers and stop exports of luxury goods to Russia,” said Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard, quoted by Reuters. As Reuters points out, the previous restrictions focused mainly on weakening the oil and gas sector, the Kremlin's main source of income.
