In the Krasnoyarsk Pillars National Park, packs of stray dogs continue to “hunt” deer.
As the press service of the national park reported, in winter, deer and roe deer graze on the slopes. They don't be afraid of people Also in winter there are no predators in the tourist area, which I representT threat to their health and life. During this period, the threat to ungulates becomes dogs.
“The situation can develop in different ways. Adult males, gathered in groups, are able to protect themselves from dogs with their massive horns. And young individuals and females that walk “heavy” all winter are completely defenseless against the pack. Especially many victims are recorded closer to spring, when a crust forms on the surface of the snow, becoming a trap for deer,” said employees of the national park.
In addition, dogs in a pack behave especially boldly and aggressively. Wild dogs intending to hunt deer behave especially cunningly. Some of them drive victims to the edge of a cliff, trying to throw them off, others bite their legs or tear their stomachs.
Stolby employees ask tourists not to walk their dogs in the national park. Since traces and left marks attract stray animals to this territory. It is also recommended not to feed the dogs found at Stolby and not to leave garbage or leftover food in the wild. Fed dogs will return, chase forest animals and prevent them from feeding peacefully.
