“Employees of public institutions, as well as members of the armed and security forces, have a choice to make: to be with the people and become allies of the nation or to become accomplices with the murderers of the people – and bear the shame and eternal condemnation of the nation”. wrote Reza Pahlavi on his Twitter account, writes Agerpres.
Addressing Iranian citizens “outside Iran”he pointed out that “all Iranian embassies and consulates belong to the Iranian people”, demanding that they “be decorated with the national flag of Iran”referring to the flag used by the former Iranian monarchy overthrown by the Islamic Revolution in 1979, instead of that of the Islamic Republic.
In London on Saturday, hundreds of people demonstrated outside the Iranian embassy, and one man managed to climb onto the building's balcony to briefly replace the flag of the Islamic Republic with a flag from the era of the monarchy.
Concerns are growing of a brutal crackdown in Iran, which has been cut off from the world by internet blackouts, after new large-scale protests against the government, the biggest mobilization in three years.
NGOs have reported over a hundred deaths since the beginning of the movement in late December.
