Vladimir Putin's army attacks. The former vice-president of Wisła Kraków raises the alarm from Kharkov

Were the peace talks in Abu Dhabi a success?

Ongoing peace talks have not persuaded the Russians to stop attacking Ukraine. “We can hear many explosions in Kiev. It looks like heavy shelling. We will see in the morning how the Kremlin sees a 'room with a view of the war'. I hear bass outside the window. This is clearly not a disco. We invite anyone interested in such an event,” wrote Piotr Kaszuvara.

A few minutes later he transmitted information from Kharkov. Jerzy Jurczyński, former vice-president and press spokesman of Wisła Kraków, is staying there. He left his comfortable life and went to Ukraine, to Kharkov, to save ordinary people almost on the front line. He goes to tragedy sites with Ukrainian firefighters and risks his life every day.

Kharkov and Kyiv under fire. Shells fell on the hospital

“Our reality. We just talked to Jurek Jurczyński on the phone. An hour ago we wished for a peaceful night. A minute ago Jurek was sending me a video and said: 'we are having a massive attack on Kharkiv', because Jurek is a firefighter there. I say: 'it's the same here, I hear explosion after explosion'. The Russians are also attacking after us. This is the beginning of a difficult night. One of hundreds,” Kaszuwara reported.

In Kharkov, a hospital, a maternity ward and a dormitory for refugees were to be hit.

“Heating power plants no. 5 and 6 were hit in Kiev,” wrote geopolitical analyst Artur Micek. “Electricity generation in Kiev has almost stopped – local media report,” he added in another entry.

Micek assessed that “the current attack on Kiev is one of the largest in many months, or at least in the top three.”

“A massive Russian air attack on Kiev is underway. More explosions can be heard in the city. First, there was a wave of drones, and then a strike with ballistic missiles, including – according to the Ukrainian media – two “Zirkon” missiles, as well as cruise missiles. The attack was mainly on the left bank of Kiev, where the situation with electricity, heating and water has so far been the most difficult. The alarm continues throughout Ukraine. The Russians fired on a number of Ukrainian cities, causing fires, among others, in Kharkov,” wrote Mateusz Lachowski, a former TVP correspondent in Kiev.

These reports were confirmed by Ukrainian security expert Maria Avdeeva on X. “Russia is massively attacking Ukraine right after the first day of talks in Abu Dhabi. The sky is full of drones. 12 explosions in Kharkov in 15 minutes. Swarms of drones are heading towards Kiev,” she wrote on X.

The head of the Kyiv Municipal Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, appealed to residents not to ignore warning signals, immediately go to shelters and stay there until they receive information about the cancellation of the air alert.

Mayor of Kharkov, Ihor Terekhov, reported that residential and office buildings were damaged by Russian drones. At least 11 people were injured.

War in Ukraine. Negotiations are ongoing in the United Arab Emirates

The first talks between representatives of Ukraine, the US and Russia regarding a possible peace agreement have already taken place in the United Arab Emirates; It's still too early to draw conclusions – announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday evening.

“As for the content of the talks, today it is still too early to draw conclusions – we will see how the conversation will go tomorrow and what its results will be. There must be a desire not only on the Ukrainian side to end this war and achieve full security – (it is necessary) that a similar desire should also arise on the Russian side in some way,” Zelensky wrote on social media platforms.

He informed that he receives reports on the talks almost every hour from his representatives who are conducting negotiations in Abu Dhabi. “They are talking about the parameters for ending the war. Now they should have at least some of the answers from Russia, and the most important thing is that Russia is ready to end this war that it itself started,” he stressed.

The White House announced on Thursday that the negotiators on the American side are: special envoy for peacekeeping Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and the Pentagon's deputy chief of ground forces Dan Driscoll.

Witkoff and Kushner met on Friday evening in Moscow with Putin and his advisers Kirill Dmitriev and Yuri Ushakov. Putin's advisers said after the meeting that the conversation was “constructive and important” but provided no further details.

According to Russian media, Moscow is represented by Putin's special envoy for investment and economic cooperation, Kirill Dmitriev, and the head of the GRU military intelligence service, Igor Kostyukov.
