Why is this important?

By announcing the decision on Friday, the Constitutional Tribunal informed that eight judges unanimously found that the actions of the politics were unworthy of the constitution, thus removed him from exercising power. The election of the new head of the state will take place within 60 days.

Jun issued a statement through his lawyers a few hours after the decision of the Constitutional Tribunal. “I deeply regret that I was unable to meet your hopes and expectations,” Jun wrote. “Service to our nation was the greatest honor in my life. I am honestly grateful for your unwavering support and encouragement, even when I failed.” In a statement given by lawyers, Jun added: “I will always pray for the Republic of Korea and all its citizens.”
