The moment when Emilia Șercan admits that she made a compromise with Vîntu: “I am an impostor”. PSD considers the accusations against the Minister of Justice to be “a political attack”

PSD launched a new attack on the journalist Emilia Șercan, after she accused the Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, in an analysis carried out by PressOne, of plagiarizing in her doctoral thesis.

“The PSD unreservedly supports the Minister of Justice Radu Marinescu and condemns the vile maneuver by which he was accused of plagiarism, immediately after he announced that the appointments of the heads of the high-ranking prosecutor's offices will not be of a political nature. It is obviously a political attack aimed at determining the removal of the minister. If the approach had been in good faith, the accusations against the minister would have been formulated at the time of his appointment to the leadership of the Ministry of Justice, not right now when he launched the legal procedures for the appointment of the heads of public prosecutor's offices, stating that he will not allow political interference”PSD Alba sent on its Facebook page.

The branch also conveyed that “Minister of Justice Radu Marinescu is not at all in the situation of other dignitaries targeted by similar accusations. His doctoral thesis has already been validated by the Doctoral Commission and CNATDCU, which considered that the text complied with the academic norms and the legislation in force at that time”.

“You cannot accuse someone of breaking a law that was not in force at the time! A person cannot substitute themselves for the legal institutions of the state and give verdicts that clearly contradict the official rulings of those courts, much less when the person in question is himself an impostor and plagiarized his own undergraduate work”it is also shown in the message.

For his part, PSD senator Daniel Zamfir published on his Facebook page a video excerpt in which journalist Emilia Șercan leaves the set of the show in tears “The Professionals”from TVR 1, after she was asked about the time spent at the Realitatea trust, when it was owned by Sorin Ovidiu Vîntu. The images are part of an edition that took place in 2017.

Eugenia Vodă brought up the period in which Emilia Şercan took over the helm of the investigation department of the Realitatea trust, on a salary of 8,500 euros, asking her how the move from Evenimentul Zilei took place.

“It's the big compromise I made”said the investigative journalist, a few minutes before leaving the set in tears. “What I want to say is that I shouldn't be on the show,” Emilia Şercan added. “I am an impostor. How can I claim to be a media professional since I made the big compromise with Vântu? I investigated Vântu”she added at the time.

The attack comes after Radu Marinescu was accused, in an analysis by PressOne, of plagiarizing more than half of his doctoral thesis. According to the journalist Emilia Șercan, at least 56% of the 247 pages of the work with the title “Evidence system in the civil process” contain text copied from other authors, some without citing the source. Radu Marinescu obtained the title of Doctor of Law in 2009, at the Faculty of Law and Administrative Sciences of the University of Craiova, under the supervision of Professor Ion Dogaru.
