In the Krasnoyarsk Territory they ensure safety on highways in cold weather

Due to frosts, security measures have been strengthened on the highways of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the regional highway department (KrUDor) reported.

In some areas of the region, the temperature dropped to −45 °C. Residents of the region are warned that due to this, flight cancellations and changes in the schedule of intercity and suburban buses are possible. At the moment, the movement of passenger transport is limited on the section from 123 to 246 km of the Epishino – Severo-Yeniseisky highway and on the section from 0 to 95 km on the Severo-Yeniseisky – Velmo highway.

“Contractors are actively working to clean up and fill the regional areas. There are about 270 units of equipment in operation. Currently, 9 ice crossings and 23 winter roads are open. Road workers also use duty vehicles to monitor the situation on the highways in order to help road users if necessary. Road enterprises and their branches, operating around the clock, are used as heating points,” said KrUDor.

“According to the hydrometeorological center, this weather will persist for a week; we advise residents of the region to postpone long trips until favorable weather conditions occur. We remind you that due to frosty fog, ice and exposure to low temperatures on the roads, the risk of traffic accidents increases. There may be difficulties with the operation of the car, affecting traffic safety, even stopping on the highway,” KruDore warns.
