Risky fun. Two teenage girls, seriously injured while being sledded by a car, in Serbia

Two teenage girls aged 16 and 17 were seriously injured in a road accident on the evening of January 9, 2026 in the city of Kraljevo, Serbia, while filming a video for social media. The girls were on a sled pulled down the road by a car when they lost their balance, fell onto the road and were hit by a car driving behind them.

The sled was being towed by a Volkswagen driven by a 19-year-old man who only had a provisional driving licence. At the time of the accident, it was snowing heavily in the area, and the road was covered with ice, being extremely slippery. The car was traveling at approximately 30-40 km/h, according to the publication Blic.
About 50 meters behind was a second vehicle, a Fiat driven by a 35-year-old man who was supposed to protect the group from other cars. During filming, the sled bounced due to bumps and ice, and the teenage girls fell onto the snow-covered asphalt.
Footage captured by a friend in the boot of the first car shows the girls pleading with the driver to slow down, before collapsing on the road. A warning is heard in the background: “That's gonna kick 'em, bro.”
Just a few seconds later, the car behind them runs over them. The driver later stated that he did not notice them due to poor visibility and weather conditions, although the road was straight and well lit.
Following the incident, both drivers were detained by the police, being investigated for serious offenses under the road safety regime.
The two teenage girls were urgently transported to the hospital in Kraljevo. One suffered a head injury and the other a leg fracture. According to doctors, their condition is stable and their lives are not in danger.
Such situations are not new in the public space. Such situations also happen in Romania, fortunately without injured people. On Sunday, in a neighborhood in Bucharest, a driver was pulling three sleds with children. The images were posted on Facebook by former deputy Cătălin Teniță.
“I don't know if I've become a coward who no longer enjoys the miracle of winter or if the world has simply become too irresponsible. We need more messages like: put seat belts on children, don't take them in the front seats, take baby seats, don't leave them on bikes/scooters in substantial traffic at least until they're 14, don't pull sleds with children in cars and so on”, wrote Tenita.
