The state news agency KCNA described it as a “dangerous attempt at confrontation” that will destabilize the situation in the Asia-Pacific region and “trigger a hot arms race.” US support for Seoul's uranium enrichment has been described as a “springboard” to the status of a “quasi-nuclear state.”

Pyongyang also criticized its allies' commitment to “complete denuclearization” of the North, calling it the “clearest manifestation” of the Trump administration's hostile policy and an attempt to negate North Korea's constitution.

Pyongyang announced it would take “reasonable and realistic countermeasures.”

Seoul on actions against North Korea. “We have no hostile intentions”

The Yonhap agency draws attention to the comments of observers who noted that the reaction of the Kim Jong Un regime was moderate because it was not an official statement by a government official, but only an editorial by KCNA.

In response to the accusations, the office of the President of South Korea assured that Seoul had no “hostile intentions” towards the North. Spokeswoman Kang Ju Dzung emphasized that the goal is to “consistently strive to alleviate tensions and rebuild trust,” and cooperation with Washington serves to protect national interests.

Pyongyang's statement came a day after Seoul, for the first time in seven years, proposed military talks to prevent clashes on the border. North Korea has not yet responded to this proposal. Beijing also expressed caution about the agreement, pointing to the threat to the global nuclear non-proliferation system.
