AS Roma have stepped up their negotiations with Tottenham in a bid to land manager Gian Piero Gasperini a centre-back. The Italian press announces this evening that Radu Drăgușin (23 years old) has been convinced with a contract until 2030.
The transfer of the Romanian stopper would be done in the form of a loan until the summer, with an option to buy which becomes mandatory under certain conditions related to the performances of the player and of the Serie A club.
The fresh information, provided by mercato specialist Nicolo Schira and the Romanian daily Il Tempo, is confirmed by GSP.ro sources consulted in the Eternal City.
“Roma continues to work in the transfer market to give Gian Piero Gasperini the much needed reinforcements. One player in particular, considering the situation in the Capitoline team's defense, seems to be Radu Drăgușin.
The former central defender of Genoa would be closer than ever to the Giallorossa team. Roma would loan him from Tottenham, with a definitive purchase clause, which could be conditional on the fulfillment of certain conditions, related to the European cups. There is also a preliminary agreement with the player, who has been offered a contract until 2030.”

“The final transfer of Drăgușin, possible this winter”
The existence of negotiations also results from the statements provided by Florin Manea: “The amount (purchase number) is much higher than 15 million euros. Everything is possible, the final transfer could be made this winter.
I'm in London, we're in negotiations. It's not about Fiorentina, I know AS Roma have expressed their interest in Tottenham. There is another club, I can't tell you, but not from Italy. It is from the Top 5 championships of Europe”.

Sources from the player's entourage revealed that the decisive discussion will take place tomorrow, during which Tottenham and AS Roma will try to reach a common denominator. Given that the London club would like to recover the investment made two years ago, when it paid 25 million euros to bring him from Genoa.
Radu Drăgușin was bought by Tottenham in January 2024. The Londoners transferred 25 million euros to Genoa to bring the Romanian stopper. He also played for Juventus, Sampdoria and Salernitana.
He is quoted by specialist websites at 22 million euros at the moment, a drop of 3 million euros from when he was brought in by Spurs.
