The Prime Minister of Denmark warns against Trump's plans. Europe does not hide its concern

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed confidence that US President Donald Trump is seriously considering taking over Greenland. In an interview with Danish public media, she emphasized that both her government and the authorities of autonomous Greenland categorically reject such a scenario.

“Unfortunately, I think the US president should be taken seriously when he says he wants Greenland.” Frederiksen said.
As she noted, Denmark's position on this matter has been publicly presented many times, as have the clear declarations of the authorities in Nuuk that the island “I don't want to be part of the United States”.
The Danish Prime Minister's warning: NATO and the limits of power
The head of the Danish government also referred to the issue of international security and alliance obligations.
“If the United States attacks a NATO country, everything will stop.” – emphasized Frederiksen, signaling that a possible attempt to use force against Greenland would have far-reaching political and military consequences.
Earlier, European Commission spokeswoman Paula Pinho assured that The European Union is not conducting any talks with the US about Greenland. This was a reaction to Trump's words, which suggested that Brussels “knows” that the United States “must have this island.”
Pinho also expressed solidarity with Denmark, emphasizing that Greenland remains part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

Greenland: We should be ready for all scenarios
The increasingly harsh tone of the American president's statements also worries the Greenlanders themselves. Aaja Chamnitz, an MP representing Greenland in the Danish parliament, told AFP that the situation requires greater vigilance.
“This is all quite disturbing. We should be ready for all scenarios.” – she said.
“Whether it be the severing of the telecommunications cable or Trump's threats, the Greenlandic people should prepare,” she added.
Trump repeats declarations about the “need” of Greenland
On Sunday, Donald Trump once again stated that the United States “they need Greenland for national security reasons”adding that Denmark is unable to protect her on its own.
“We will deal with Greenland in about two months (…) we will talk about Greenland in 20 days” — he told reporters aboard Air Force One.
Trump also claimed that there were Russian and Chinese ships along the island's coast.
“He repeats lies about the presence of these ships. This is very disturbing,” Chamnitz commented.
Greenlandic Prime Minister: “Enough of pressure and annexation fantasies”
The Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens Frederik Nielsen, also reacted sharply to Trump's statements.
“Enough of this; no more pressure, insinuations and annexation fantasies” – he wrote on social media.
“When the president of the United States says 'we need Greenland' and links us to Venezuela and military intervention, it is not only inappropriate, it is disrespectful.” – he added.

Additional concerns were raised by a post published on Saturday by Katie Miller, the wife of one of Trump's key advisers. A former official of Elon Musk's DOGE team posted on X a map of Greenland in the colors of the American flag with the caption “coming soon”.
