US stock markets have recovered some of their losses after the recent collapse – the Dow Jones rose by about 1%. (over 400 points), the S&P 500 gained almost 1.1%, and the Nasdaq Composite gained about 1.5%. Investors interpreted the US administration's softening of tone towards Chinese tariffs as a signal that the escalation of the trade conflict could be contained – and bought shares after Friday's sharp sell-off.
