Orbán, outraged by the financial support of 800 billion dollars requested by Zelenski: “The Ukrainian dwarf is begging for food”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Tuesday that Ukraine would have presented a new financial estimate worth about 800 billion dollars, an amount that Kiev considers necessary to cover the country's needs for the next ten years.

“The Ukrainians presented a new bill. This time one for $800 billion. That's how much they would need for the next 10 years to keep their country running. A huge sum. Almost four times the annual gross domestic product of Hungary.” wrote Orbán.

The claims were made in a Facebook post and were picked up by Hungarian news agency MTI.

The leader from Budapest qualified the amount as right “astronomical”, pointing out that this would be almost four times the annual gross domestic product of Hungary.

According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, this request would explain the pressure exerted at the level of the European Union for the unblocking of frozen Russian assets and for a major restructuring of the future EU budget.

“This is why the Brussels elite were so desperate to unlock frozen Russian assets in December and why they want a fundamental overhaul of the EU budget,” argued Orbán, adding that “Ukrainian dwarf begs for food“.

The Hungarian Prime Minister also criticized the financial support given to Kiev, saying that Brussels would have found supporters in Hungary as well.

He mentioned that the MEPs of the Tisza opposition party would have voted in favor of unconditional financial support for Ukraine, a gesture he interpreted as a political concession in exchange for European support.

“No matter how much they deny it, we know what to expect from them”Viktor Orbán concluded.

The statements come in the context of increasingly intense debates in the European Union regarding the continuation of financial and military support for Ukraine, against the background of the war started by Russia and the pressures on the budgets of the member states.
