He took part in the conclave. The cardinal reveals what the Pope thinks about the war in Ukraine

When asked by Szymon Piegza, whether the new Pope Leon XIV understands the situation in Ukraine, states that “the Holy Father understands this topic very well and this problem.”
– When the Pope was elected, we had the opportunity to approach and exchange a few words with him. I asked him to just remember about Ukraine, remember in his prayers that this war would end. I assured Pope Leon that we would pray for his service. Not only Ukrainians, but also Australians. I hope that this pontificate will bring peace to Ukraine and the whole world – says the Ukrainian priest.
“Leon XIV has a great experience of working a missionary”
In an interview with Onet, Byczok emphasizes that “the new pope always carries something new.” – What Pope Leon XIV will bring, we can only guess. But from what we heard today, we already know what his approach will be, especially to people, to the faithful. He has a great experience of working a missionary in different parts of the world. I think his pontificate will be very good, full of hope – says the priest.
When asked if the pontificate of Leon XIV would contribute to the end of the war in Ukraine, he replies directly: “I don't only think, but I believe.” – I have deep hopes that he will maintain the good initiatives that Pope Francis began and will continue to make the war end, but also to alleviate all these wounds of war in Ukraine. For Ukraine, he is a pope, for which we will pray in every liturgy – indicates Mykola Byczok.
“He will be this pope of hope, he will be a pope of love and mercy for God's people,” said the priest.
