Sports goals for the new year
When it comes to sports goals, the greatest motivation to implement resolutions during this period is the desire to improve health (64%) and well-being (63%), according to the report.
As the authors of the study note, when it comes to sports, we most often choose simple forms of activity – walking (73%), cycling (54%) and running (29%). “Among regularly and frequently practiced activities, those 'easy to use' dominate. This once again indicates that in order to maintain the regularity of physical activity, we should choose easily accessible sports – those that do not require specialized infrastructure, equipment or longer training time. We should set goals rationally (e.g. number of steps, distance, time). The safest way is to first gradually increase the frequency of exercises, then the length of individual activities, and only finally their intensity” – comments Prof. Łukasz Małek, sports cardiologist from the University of Physical Education in Warsaw.
