Two 12- and 17-year-old children are among the 13 people injured after the powerful explosion that occurred on Friday in a block of flats in the Rahova district of Bucharest, where two floors collapsed. The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced that most of the injured are in critical condition. As a result of the explosion, three tenants died.
The 13 injured tenants were transferred to the following hospitals: Universitar, Grigore Alexandrescu, Floreasca, Matei Balș, Militar and Bagdasar.
Three of the injured suffered burns, and one of them could be transferred abroad, said the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, on Antena 3 CNN.
“A crisis cell has been set up at the Ministry of Health which includes the health units that will receive these patients and which operates under a code white emergency regime. So far, the mobile intervention colleagues on site – the SMURD ambulance services, Mobile Intensive Care – have transferred 13 patients to the health units, including two children of “Grigore Alexandrescu”, aged 12 and 17 years old”, declared the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, on Digi 24.
He stated that most of the patients are in critical condition.
“Most of the transferred patients are in an emergency, critical condition. We will have a more accurate picture of the situation after they are evaluated in the emergency reception units. A 76-year-old patient was transferred to Bagdasar-Arseni, with severe burns,” the Minister of Health said.
Rogobete stated that, if the situation requires it, the number of hospitals operating under the emergency code white regime will be expanded.
“These hospitals operate under a white emergency code. This means that all material and human resources are directed to this situation. If the number of victims will increase, we will expand the number of hospitals that will operate under a white emergency code regime. The Operative Center for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Health is in contact with the other hospitals to be able to take over patients from the Capital in order not to affect these emergency medical situations that arise, other than those from the explosion”, explained Rogobete.
The “white plan” allows the management of emergency situations and requires additional human, logistical, financial resources. “It is the response plan of health units with beds in case of a massive influx of patients following a collective accident, a calamity, epidemic or pandemic”, according to an order of the Minister of Health.
