The illegal fuel base in Szczecin may be demolished. “Councillors have a plan”

Seven giant fuel tanks are being built in the Podjuchy district of Szczecin without a building permit. Warehouses for over 160,000 cubic meters fuels are manufactured by Oktan Energy & V/L Service. After residents of a nearby housing estate became interested in the construction, the District Construction Supervision Inspector inspected and then suspended the investment, considering it to be illegal construction. Now KO councilors from Szczecin have joined the case and on Monday they submitted reports to the prosecutor's office, Wody Polskie and the police. They also notified the president of Szczecin.

Szczecin. Four notices regarding unauthorized construction
On Monday, the club of Szczecin councilors of the Civic Coalition announced that it intends to intervene in the case of illegal construction and demolish what has been built so far. As councilor Stanisław Kaup, a lawyer, told PAP, the notice sent to the prosecutor's office mentioned, among others: art. 160 of the Penal Code, which concerns exposing a person to direct danger of loss of life or serious damage to health. The councilors also pointed out the provisions of Art. 186, 187, 199 of the Penal Code, which penalize issues related to actions against the environment. The base is located on the bank of the Eastern Oder and is adjacent to the Natura 2000 area.

— We are also sending an application to the Szczecin Dąbie police station in connection with an offense under Art. 92 of the Construction Law. It is related to undertaking construction activities without appropriate permits, supervision and other formal issues, Kaup said. He noted that the next letter, to the president of Szczecin, concerns environmental issues, and the fourth document, addressed to the Regional Board of Polish Waters, is an application to check whether the investor has obtained water permits.
– We clearly expect that this investment will not only be stopped, but also demolished – emphasized KO councilor Łukasz Tyszler.
Roman Herczyński, councilor of KO, pointed out that a safety and health protection plan should have been prepared before the start of construction, but the investment was carried out for several months without a construction manager, without a construction log, etc. – Issues related to the protection of participants in the construction process were not observed at all here – said Herczyński. He announced that “the councilors have a plan to block this investment.”
