Putin publicly called the invasion of Ukraine a war and offered direct negotiations in Istanbul on May 15

Putin also announced allegedly readiness for “serious negotiations” with Ukraine, which he called “the first step towards the sustainable world.”

“We do not exclude that during these negotiators we manage to agree on some new truce, a new ceasefire,” Putin said.
