Chief physician of the Krasnoyarsk regional hospital Egor Korchagin On his birthday, December 27, he again dressed up as Santa Claus and wished Happy New Year to the children at the burn center. The tradition has existed for 12 years, the press service noted.

Every year he congratulates children who undergo complex treatment after burns. According to the doctors and nurses of the department, his visit radically changes the atmosphere.

“Guys who sometimes can’t even smile because of pain have a sparkle in their eyes. Mothers who do not leave their cribs for days forget about their anxiety for a minute and just laugh. And this is a powerful medicine that we cannot write into the medical history, but which works,” they say.

For the head physician himself, this day also has a deeply personal meaning. “When you see how a child, despite the pain and bandages, reaches out his hands to touch his beard, or whispers his cherished desire, all work problems fade into the background. You understand why all this: the hospital, and the sleepless nights, and this white beard. So that here, within these walls, children have not only treatment, but also a childhood. At least for one morning“says Yegor Korchagin.

The tradition he supports has become a symbol of hope for the center, without which, as the hospital notes, real recovery cannot begin.

Let us add that this year Yegor Korchagin turned 59 years old. In the summer he conquered Everest.
