AUR, accusations against CNA regarding the closure of the Realitatea Plus station. Request to the US Ambassador
AUR deputy Mihail Neamțu said, in a press release on Thursday, that the representatives of the National Audiovisual Council (CNA) “will be invited again” to the Parliament, on Tuesday, to give explanations regarding the withdrawal of the Realitatea Plus and Gold FM stations.
AUR claims that CNA representatives cited “administrative reasons” to refuse an invitation to appear today at hearings in the Culture Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, led by Mihail Neamțu.
“We received the same answer that we are used to receiving, more of defiance and indifference. They cannot move on a Thursday, all the way to our Parliament, where we were sent by the people to ask these questions. They are not our questions, they are the people's questions,” said Mihail Neamțu, quoted in the party's statement.
The opposition parliamentarian accused the CNA leadership of having an agenda of “intimidating sovereignist voices”.
“I will make a public request to the United States ambassador in Bucharest. Today we will write to the new ambassador everything that for us represents abuse. Tyranny and contempt for the freedom that America, after all, embraced 250 years ago, freedom of expression, freedom of conscience, religious freedom, all these forms of freedom that were, by the way, crucified on Good Friday, because that's why Jesus died, because he didn't he gave himself the right to be himself, that is, to be free. Because all these forms of freedom are crucified in Romania, we will ask for the assistance of our strategic partners”, Mihail Neamțu also declared.
CNA withdrew the license of the Realitatea Plus television station for non-payment of fines from 2024, controlled by the businessman Maricel Păcuraru, but also of the Gold FM radio station, controlled by the family of the former politician Cozmin Gușă. The Bucharest Court of Appeal suspended the application of both decisions.
